Mary Ellen, “Emmy”, was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. She attended the University of Georgia and earned her undergraduate degree in psychology.
Her love of working with families, particularly children and adolescents, began with her role as Director of Family and Youth Activities for a church in Albany, GA. After relocating to Prescott in 2006 with her husband and two sons, she assisted in the start up of a new preschool developing curriculum, and she taught for two years while her youngest son was in preschool.
She returned to graduate school at Arizona State University receiving her master’s degree in social work. Emmy has experience working with families and children (grades K-12) providing counseling in the school system and their homes; as well as experience working with individuals in a variety of crisis as a hospital social worker.
She served as the Director of Social Work and Assistant Hospital Administrator for a 16-bed psychiatric hospital in the Prescott area prior to returning to her passion of providing counseling to teenage girls and their families. Emmy is a certified Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recover Institute, has trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma and Attachment issues, and EMDR.
Emmy is an avid dog lover, particularly Weimaraners, she enjoys mountain biking, snow skiing, watching her sons play baseball, and spending time with her family and friends. Emmy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Arizona.
